Genting Dream: Cruise experience (3 of 5)

Read Part 2 here.

Day 3: Sihanoukville, Cambodia

After a 14-hour voyage up the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, Genting Dream entered Cambodian territorial waters near Koh Tang.

Entering Sihanoukville port limits near Koh Puos, also known as "Snake Island".

MV Ji Mei (IMO 6604482, Panama), a Chinese casino ship anchored off Koh Puos.

Entering Sihanoukville Port's breakwater.

Here, Genting Dream performs a 180° manoeuvre to allow easier departure later. The azimuth thrusters and bow thrusters enable the ship to make the turn with relative ease.

Mooring in progress...

Tour buses ready to pick up passengers on shore excursions.

As the Genting Dream was berthed within the restricted area of the Sihanoukville Port Autonomous Region, passengers wishing to disembark are required to take one of the port's shuttle buses to the port entrance.

View of the container terminal and godowns.

Genting Dream left Sihanoukville after a 10-hour stay. Seen here is the Cambodian pilot being picked up by his pilot boat near Koh Puos. I did not manage to get the departure shots as the ship's departure clashed with one of the ship's theatrical shows that I was attending.

Next: Laem Chabang, Thailand.

Entertainment Facilities

Being one of the largest cruise ships in the region, the Genting Dream also has some of the region's best entertainment venues on board.

Zodiac Theatre at Deck 7 forward hosts nightly live production shows such as "Sonio - A Tale of Two Dreams" and "Some Like It Hot". The theatre is also an assembly point for shore excursions during port calls.

The Lobby at Deck 6 plays host to daily games, Bingo games, and movie screenings.

One of the "key attractions" on board Genting Dream is Zouk at Sea, consisting of three facilities:

Zouk Night Club is an indoor sports club with a large dance floor, pool tables, and a four-lane bowling alley (Glow Bowling).

Zouk Beach Club is an outdoor club located at the ship's fantail. The beach club plays host to club nights, foam parties, and is available for private hire.

In addition to the night club and the beach club, there are also two Zouk Private Party Decks available for rent.
